It was a very rainy Tuesday in Pune. The rain made a loud tapping sound on the windows. Aman was in his apartment, drinking hot tea. He heard a very slow, sad knock on his door. He opened it and saw his neighbor, Ravi.
Ravi was 38 years old. Aman was 20. They were very good friends. Ravi always shared sweet jalebis with Aman when he bought them. Aman always helped Ravi fix his computer when it was broken. But today, Ravi did not bring sweets. Ravi looked like he wanted to cry.
Ravi sat heavily on Aman's sofa. "My office friends are very, very mean," Ravi said quietly. "They laugh at me every day. They say I am a loser because I do not have a wife. They say no one will ever love me." Ravi looked down at his hands. "Now, the boss says we all have to go to a big hotel in Lonavala for a weekend trip. Everyone must bring their wife. If I go alone, they will laugh at me the whole time."
Aman felt a big ache in his heart. He hated seeing his kind friend so sad. Aman did lots of acting in school plays. He knew how to play different parts and wear costumes.
"I will help you, Ravi," Aman said with a big smile. "I will dress up and pretend to be your wife. We will call her Anjali."
Ravi was very scared at first, but Aman said it would be a fun secret. But Aman knew he needed help to look absolutely perfect. He called his best friend from his acting class. Her name was Neha. Neha was very good at makeup and clothes. Aman told Neha the secret plan to help Ravi. Neha clapped her hands. "I will help you make the best Anjali!" she said.
The next day, Neha came to Aman's house with a big bag. First, they worked on the hair. Aman's hair was a little long, but Anjali needed very long, beautiful hair. Neha brought special hair pieces called extensions. They were dark brown and very soft. Neha brushed the long hair for a long time until it was shiny. Then, she carefully clipped the long hair into Aman's hair. Aman felt the heavy, soft hair fall all the way down his back. He moved his head, and the long hair swished. It felt very nice.
Then, Neha opened her makeup box. She put soft cream on Aman's face to make it look smooth. She put black lines around his eyes to make them look big and pretty. She put a soft pink color on his lips. Last, Neha gave Aman a beautiful yellow dress called a kurti and a small red dot, a bindi, for his forehead.
Aman looked in the big mirror. He gasped. He did not look like Aman anymore. He looked like a very pretty girl. The long hair and the soft makeup made him feel very different and very elegant.
Aman walked across the hall and knocked on Ravi's door. Ravi opened it. He dropped his car keys on the floor with a loud clink. "Wow," Ravi said. His eyes were very wide. "You look... you look so pretty."
For the next two weeks, they practiced every single night. Neha helped Aman learn to walk in small heels. But the hardest part was acting like they were in love. They sat together on Ravi's sofa.
"We have to hold hands," Aman said. Ravi's hand was shaking a little. He slowly took Aman's hand. Ravi's hand was big and warm. Aman felt a happy, fluttery feeling in his tummy.
They practiced their fake story. "We met at a bookstore," Ravi said, trying to smile.
"Yes, and we went to the beach for our first trip," Aman laughed.
Ravi practiced putting his arm around Aman's waist. While they talked and watched TV, Ravi would gently play with Aman's long, dark hair. He liked to twist the long pieces around his fingers. Every time Ravi touched his hair, Aman felt his face get hot and happy. Soon, they were not just practicing. They were just talking, laughing, and holding each other because they really liked it.
The big weekend finally came. They drove in Ravi's car to the nice hotel in Lonavala. In the hotel room, Neha had packed a very special dress for Aman. It was a dark green saree made of soft silk. Aman put it on carefully. He left his long, dark hair open so it fell beautifully over his shoulders and down his back. He put on shiny earrings.
"Are you ready, my husband?" Aman asked.
Ravi looked at him softly. "I am very lucky today," Ravi said.
They walked into the big party room together. Ravi held Aman's hand very tight. The mean men from the office were standing together, ready to laugh at Ravi. But when they saw Ravi walking with such a beautiful woman with long flowing hair, their mouths fell open. They were totally quiet.
One mean man tried to say a small joke about Ravi being quiet. But Aman smiled a very sweet, sharp smile. "My Ravi is the smartest man here. He just doesn't need to talk loudly to prove it," Aman said smoothly.
The mean man turned red and walked away. Ravi stood very tall. He put his hand on Aman's waist and kept it there all night. He looked so proud. He introduced "Anjali" to everyone.
After the party, they went back to their quiet hotel room. The heavy door clicked shut. It was just the two of them again. Aman kicked off his shoes. He felt very tired but very happy. He sat on the edge of the big bed. The green saree felt soft against his skin.
Ravi came and sat right next to him. "You were amazing," Ravi whispered. "You saved me."
The room was very quiet. Ravi reached out his hand. He gently touched the heavy, long hair on Aman's shoulder. He pushed the long hair back behind Aman's ear so he could see Aman's face perfectly. Ravi's hand stayed on Aman's cheek. His thumb rubbed Aman's skin very softly.
Aman closed his eyes and leaned into the warm hand. He felt that happy flutter in his tummy again, but much bigger this time.
Ravi leaned his face very close. "I don't want to pretend anymore," Ravi said softly.
Aman opened his eyes and smiled. "Me neither," Aman whispered.
Ravi put both arms around Aman. He pulled Aman close and kissed him. It was a very soft, sweet kiss. Aman put his arms around Ravi's neck, his long dark hair falling over Ravi's arms, and kissed him back happily.
Aman lay back on the soft white pillows. His very long, dark hair spread out all around his head like a beautiful, shiny fan. The pink night-dress looked very pretty against the white bed. Because of the special silicone forms he wore, his body looked very soft and curvy, exactly like a real woman resting in the bed.
Ravi lay down right next to him. Ravi pulled the warm blanket up over both of them. It was very quiet and cozy in the room.
Ravi wrapped his arms around Aman's soft waist. He pulled Aman very close. Aman snuggled his face right into Ravi's chest. He could hear Ravi's heart beating softly.
Ravi smiled and leaned his face down. He gave Aman a very gentle kiss on the forehead. Then, Ravi kissed Aman's nose. Aman giggled a little bit because it tickled.
"You are so beautiful, my Anjali," Ravi whispered in the quiet room.
Ravi kissed Aman's cheeks, first the left one, then the right one. Then, Ravi leaned in and kissed Aman on the lips. It was a very long, sweet kiss. Aman put his arms around Ravi's neck and kissed him back happily.
Ravi's hands moved very gently. He stroked Aman's long hair, feeling how soft it was. The pink dress slipped just a little bit off Aman's shoulder. Ravi kissed Aman's bare shoulder very softly. Then he kissed Aman's neck. Every time Ravi kissed him, Aman felt a warm, happy flutter inside.
Ravi took Aman's hands. He kissed Aman's fingers one by one. He gave Aman sweet kisses all over his face. He kissed his chin, his eyelids, and his cheeks again.
Aman felt so safe and so loved. He hugged Ravi as tight as he could. He buried his face in Ravi's neck and gave Ravi a big kiss there, too.
They did not need to do anything else. They just stayed in the big, warm bed. Ravi kept giving Aman soft, sweet kisses all over his face and shoulders. They held each other very close, enjoying the quiet night and feeling perfectly happy together.
The morning sun peeked softly through the hotel window. Under the thick, warm blanket, Anjali felt incredibly cozy. She and Ravi had slept with no clothes on, enjoying the wonderful feeling of just being close after a night of sweet, endless kisses. Their bare skin touched under the covers, making Anjali feel very safe and loved.
Ravi slowly opened his eyes. He smiled a big, happy smile when he saw Anjali’s face resting on his chest. He leaned down and gave her bare shoulder a very soft kiss. "Good morning, my beautiful Anjali," he whispered.
"Good morning," Anjali smiled back, her long dark hair messy and spread all over the white pillows.
They had a busy day ahead. The boss had planned a field trip for all the couples to visit a beautiful green village nearby. Anjali got out of bed to get ready. She carefully put on her soft silicone shapes so her body looked perfectly curvy and feminine. Then, she picked out her dress for the day. It was a beautiful, soft chiffon saree. It was a light, pretty peach color with tiny white dots. The chiffon was so thin and smooth, it floated beautifully around her legs when she walked, making her feel very elegant and girly.
They rode a big bus to the village. The air outside smelled like fresh earth and sweet flowers. When they arrived, a group of very nice village ladies came to welcome them. They wore bright, colorful sarees and had big, friendly smiles.
"All the men will go look at the big farms and the tractors!" the village ladies announced. "The ladies will stay here in the big courtyard in the shade. We will cook a big lunch for our husbands together!"
Ravi squeezed Anjali's hand, smiled, and walked away with the men. Anjali joined the big group of wives.
They all sat together in a big circle on soft, woven mats under a large tree. Anjali sat gracefully, making sure her peach chiffon saree covered her perfectly. Her very long, dark hair was open, falling in soft waves all the way down her back.
A nice lady named Priya, who was married to one of Ravi's office friends, moved to sit right behind Anjali.
"Anjali, your hair is so thick and pretty," Priya said, smiling warmly. "The village wind will blow it in your face while we cook. Can I make a beautiful braid for you?"
Anjali felt a big happy flutter in her tummy. "Oh, yes please," Anjali said, her voice soft and sweet.
Priya took out a small wooden comb. She gently combed through Anjali's long, dark hair. It felt so nice and relaxing to have another lady brush her hair. Anjali closed her eyes and smiled. Then, Priya's hands moved carefully, crossing the heavy pieces of hair over and over. She made a beautiful, thick braid that went all the way down Anjali's back. Priya tied a small peach ribbon at the very end to match the saree. Anjali reached over her shoulder and touched the long, thick braid resting on her soft chiffon saree. She felt like a real princess. It was such a special, girly moment.
Next, it was time to cook. Big metal pots were put on the fire. The ladies sat together, washing vegetables, peeling potatoes, and rolling soft dough to make round rotis. It was very loud and very happy.
Soon, the ladies started talking and gossiping. They started talking about their husbands. The ladies giggled behind their hands, sharing their happy secrets.
"My husband looks so serious and angry at the office," Priya laughed, rolling a roti. "But when we are alone in our bedroom, he is like a big soft teddy bear. He always wants to cuddle and hold me close."
Another lady with green bangles blushed and smiled. "My husband always surprises me," she giggled. "When the lights go out, he pulls me under the blanket and gives me so many sweet kisses. He makes love so gently, he always makes sure I am happy."
The ladies all laughed loudly, their bangles clinking together. It was such a fun, feminine conversation. Then, they all looked at Anjali.
"What about quiet Ravi?" Priya asked with a teasing smile. "Is he romantic with you, Anjali?"
Anjali felt her cheeks get very warm and red, just like a shy, happy wife. She thought about their beautiful night in the hotel bed.
"Ravi is very, very gentle," Anjali said softly, smiling at her hands. "When we are alone, he loves to play with my long hair. He pulls me very close to his chest so I can hear his heart beat. He gives me the sweetest kisses all over my face and my neck... he really knows how to make me feel perfectly loved."
All the ladies went "Awwwww!" and smiled big, happy smiles at her. They felt very close to Anjali. Anjali laughed with them, her long braid moving on her shoulder. She rolled the soft dough in her hands, feeling completely happy and completely accepted as one of the girls.
Soon, the men came back from the big green farms. They were tired but very happy. Ravi walked into the big courtyard and stopped. He saw Anjali sitting with all the ladies. She looked so beautiful in her soft peach chiffon saree, with her long, thick braid resting on her shoulder. Ravi felt his heart do a happy jump.
The village ladies brought out the big pots of hot, delicious food. All the men sat down on the soft mats to eat. Ravi had a big plate full of hot rotis, spicy vegetables, and sweet rice.
Anjali went to sit right next to Ravi. In the village, it was a very sweet and romantic thing for a wife to share her husband's food. So, Anjali did not take her own plate. She sat very close to Ravi, her soft chiffon saree touching his leg. Ravi smiled a big, warm smile. He broke a small piece of soft roti, dipped it in the vegetables, and gently fed it to Anjali with his own hands.
Anjali smiled and ate it. "It is very good," she whispered. Then, she took a piece of sweet rice from his plate with her fingers and ate it. All the mean men from the office watched them. They were very quiet now. They saw how much Ravi and his beautiful wife loved each other, and they felt silly for ever making fun of him.
After the big lunch, it was time to go back. They all got on the big bus. Ravi held Anjali's hand the whole way back to the hotel. He kept looking at her pretty face and her long braid.
When they finally got back to their hotel room, the sun was going down. The room was quiet and cool. Ravi locked the heavy wooden door. As soon as the door clicked, Ravi turned around and pulled Anjali into a very big, tight hug.
"I missed you all day," Ravi whispered, burying his face in Anjali's neck. He kissed her soft skin. "I watched you laughing with the ladies. You looked so perfect. I have been waiting all day just to be alone with you again. I have so much love for you today, I feel like my heart is going to burst."
Ravi looked into Anjali's eyes. "Please," he said softly, his voice full of love. "Go put on your most beautiful, special nightdress for me. The prettiest one you have."
Anjali felt a hot, happy blush on her cheeks. She smiled and nodded. She opened her bag and found her most special nightdress. It was a beautiful, deep red color, made of very thin, silky cloth with soft lace at the top.
Anjali went into the bathroom. She carefully took off the peach chiffon saree. She kept her soft silicone curves on so she still looked perfectly round and feminine. She slipped the red silky dress over her head. It was very short and soft, and the red color looked beautiful against her skin.
Then, Anjali untied the small peach ribbon at the end of her braid. She gently opened the thick braid using her fingers. Because it was braided all day, her very long, dark hair now fell down her back in beautiful, big, bouncy waves. She put a tiny bit of sweet perfume on her neck.
She took a deep breath and opened the bathroom door.
Ravi was waiting by the bed. When he saw Anjali, his eyes went very wide. The red silk hugged her soft curves perfectly. Her long, wavy hair looked wild and beautiful. She looked completely stunning.
Ravi walked over to her very quickly. He didn't say a word because she was too beautiful to speak. He wrapped his arms tightly around her waist and lifted her up just a little bit. He pressed his lips to hers for a very deep, passionate kiss.
Anjali wrapped her arms around Ravi's neck, running her fingers through his hair. Ravi's hands moved over the soft red silk on her back, feeling her curves and her long, wavy hair. They kissed for a very long time in the quiet room, completely lost in each other. The mean office friends were forgotten. The fake story was gone. It was just Ravi and his beautiful Anjali, deeply in love and perfectly happy together.
